Molekule Air Pro

The Molekule Air Pro approaches indoor air quality fundamentally differently than traditional mechanical filters. Instead of merely trapping particles, it utilizes proprietary Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO) technology to destroy pollutants at the molecular level, including VOCs, bacteria, mold, and viruses. This unique capability earned the Air Pro an FDA 510(k) Class II medical device clearance for the destruction of airborne viruses and bacteria, making it a highly specialized tool for immunocompromised patients or clinical environments. During our testing, the PECO system demonstrated exceptional mitigation of chemical off-gassing and biological aerosols. However, the device's overall score is anchored at 86/100 due to its performance regarding basic particulate matter (PM2.5). While newer filter iterations incorporate HEPA-style media alongside the PECO catalyst, the Air Pro's Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) for dust and pollen remains notably lower than standard HEPA purifiers that cost a fraction of the price. Combined with steep upfront and ongoing maintenance costs, it is a specialized clinical investment rather than a generalized residential workhorse.
